A Middle Tennessee State University student in Iowa said on Twitter Saturday that Kamala Harris admits she did not practice what she preaches on the death penalty.
According to various news reports, Harris was in Iowa this weekend to prepare for next year’s Iowa caucuses.
MTSU student Sabrina Washington, apparently in Iowa and using the hashtags #MTSUInIowa, tweeted Saturday, “Presidential candidate Kamala Harris openly admits that she did indeed act against her personal beliefs regarding the death penalty with the intentions to protect her job during her tenure as California’s attorney general.”

Washington, according to her LinkedIn page, is an MTSU senior and a freelance journalist and public relations specialist.
Washington did not elaborate in any follow-up tweets about on what she said concerning Harris.
According to the #MTSUInIowa hashtag, MTSU students traveled to Iowa to report on that state’s caucus system.
Harris, now a U.S. senator, was once California’s attorney general.
According to The Washington Post earlier this year, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat also running for president, criticized Harris for allegedly keeping innocent people on death row and allegedly blocking evidence that could have helped them.
“The tense exchange illuminated a complicated piece of Harris’s record as a prosecutor that has drawn criticism from both sides of the aisle, with some targeting her refusal to seek the death penalty in the killing of a police officer, and others attacking her decision to defend California’s death penalty from a statewide legal challenge,” according to The Washington Post.
“The result is a track record that doesn’t quite fit into the black-and-white boundaries of a debate. While Gabbard attacked other parts of Harris’s record as a prosecutor, including her treatment of marijuana cases and failure to change the money bail system, her claim that Harris kept an innocent man on death row drew the fiercest response.”

I’m glad somebody is calling Kamela Harris on her hypocrisy regarding the death penalty. For somebody who claims to oppose the death penalty, she had a very strange way of showing her opposition–by covering it up to appease Tea Party Republicans! She reminds me of Janet Reno, Clinton’ Attorney General who, despite her alleged opposition to the death penalty, had no inhibition about carrying out executions. Reno was a female Edwin Meese! Let’s hope we can derail and dewire Harris’s presidential campaign once and for all. If she’s honest at all, she will admit that she’s been a Republican all along!
